About Bharatnatyam
Bharatanatyam, a pre-eminent Indian classical dance form presumably the oldest classical dance heritage of India, is regarded as the mother of many other Indian classical dance forms. This solo dance form originated in Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu, traces its theoretical base to the ancient Natya Shastra text, and encompasses nrita, nritya, and natya performance styles with footwork and gestures.
